Pastor Tim Abel is blessed to lead the ministry of Driftwood United Methodist Church. He was ordained into the Methodist ministry in 1977 and has serviced both large and smaller congregations over his years of ministry. He retired from full time ministry after serving Leander UMC in 2014.
While attending seminary at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, he met his wife, Beth, who was a member of the church choir he was directing. They were married in 1977 and have two children. Adrianne lives in Kyle with her husband Bryan and they have two children, Luke 3, and Hope who was born in May, 2019. RW and his wife Christina live in South Carolina where Christiana teaches at Clemson University. Tim also has a daughter from his first marriage, Debby, who lives in Indiana with her family which includes a daughter and two sons.
Beth Abel is a retired psychotherapist with a Social Work background and continues to do Life Coaching on a limited basis. She enjoys being a grandmother as well as continuing her volunteer work with older Girl Scouts in the Oak Hill Area. In 2015 she completed a goal of walking the 2000 miles of the Appalachian Trail over the course of 14 years.
Pastor Tim is dedicated to bringing the Gospel to people who are looking for a spiritual direction in their lives. He welcomes all who are looking to find their path to a life of grace and love.
Beth and Tim have lived in the Oak Hill area for 31 years and have witnessed the changes that have impacted far west Travis County and Hays county during those years.
Pastor Tim completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from SMU in 1990.
